Our Team
The leadership team includes:
-
Rev. Shirlyn Toppin
Superintendent Minister, Upper Thames Circuit
Shirlyn was born in Trinidad and Tobago and has ministered in several areas of the UK, most recently in Ealing, West London. She believes passionately in proclaiming the Gospel in word and sacrament and is thankful to have the opportunity to serve the Lord among communities that are responding to those around them with grace and love. Her hobbies include reading and shopping.
She also currently now serves as Assistant Chairman of the Bristol District. She is pictured here at her welcome service with Rev. Dr. Jonathan Pye, Chairman of the Bristol District (at the time of the photo).
-
Rev. Dr. Joseph Ribeiro
Joseph and his family joined our circuit from 1st September 2023. They have moved from Romford in Essex and live in our new manse in Highworth.
He and his wife Martha have three grown-up children, two of whom live in Ghana, and one in the UK. Joseph was originally a chemist by training and worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Accra.
Joseph was ordained in Ghana and joined the Methodist Church UK in 2009. He is a lover of classical music, including hymns ancient and modern.
He describes himself as a book-lover but recognises the Bible as "the one supreme book, containing all we need for this life and the life beyond."
-
Church stewards
Many of the day-to-day tasks in the church are dealt with by our voluntary team of stewards.
One or two of them are always on duty at the Sunday services and they also lead services from time to time.
Gill Griffiths and Louise Sheppard have agreed to be the contact-point for the stewards - you can reach them at stewards@rwbmc.co.uk or fill in the contact form here.
-
Bev Tydeman - Pastoral Co-ordinator
Prayerful pastoral care has always been a crucial part of our church life.
Bev Tydeman has the important voluntary role of Pastoral Co-ordinator.
She has oversight of our pastoral visitors and home groups, supported by the stewards and ordained staff.
-
Tony Boole - Church Treasurer
Tony took up this important role on 1st November 2024.
