The Litter Picks were started around five years ago by members of the church, but volunteers include members of other churches and non-churchgoers

Litter picks take place on the second Saturday of every month from February to November. We meet in the hall at the rear of the church (which can be accessed from Rope Yard) at 9.45am and go out from 10.00am to around 12 noon. All of the equipment has been loaned by Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council and the collected bags of litter are taken to the Council depot at Whitehill Lane.

The size of the group varies from month to month, but typically comprises six to ten people and we normally collect between ten and fifteen bags of litter.

Why not join our volunteers? You will be very welcome.

December 2017

Now that we are truly into winter, we will not be arranging any further Community Litter Picks until next Spring arrives.

Thank you again for your work during 2017, removing so much litter from the streets of our town. It's been clear from the conversations that we have had on Saturday mornings that our efforts are very much appreciated.

Having said that, the number of volunteers has been steadily decreasing during this year, to the point where in some months we have had to cancel the Litter Pick. We are wondering whether we need to rethink the day and time, and also the frequency, of the Litter Picks. So before the planned restart in March, we will be meeting in Church Croft (behind St Bartholomew's Church in Rope Yard) at 10:00am on Saturday 10 February for coffee and a discussion on the future of the group. I hope that many of you will be able to join us, but, if you are not able to come and have a view on this, please let us know.

Best wishes for a litter-free Christmas and a Happy New Year,

David (Pope) and Chris (Kemble)
